People ask me often what activities does Mr. C do. Mr. C has been in swimming since he was 6 months old. He's a work in progress for the instructors and he challenges them every week to come up with different ideas in terms of his strokes and swimming. Mr. C has a big head and short legs and arms so his "style" isn't exactly what the traditional child would do. They usually teach the kids to blow bubbles and kick torpedo style....when Mr. C blows bubbles he sinks to the bottom. So they adjust and learn right along with him.
He joined beavers last year and John became a leader. Mr. C still needs assistance going to the bathroom so we knew he couldn't do it alone. He really loved it and he continued this year. He's a blue tail and gets so excited for Monday nights. He's looking forward to their camping trip next weekend.
Mr. C has also had two seasons of baseball. The first season was called blastball and last year it was t-ball. He has enjoyed it. John was his coach last year but has decided this year will be different and Mr. C can have a different coach. We haven't signed him up for soccer. Although he can kick a ball and run we have decided not do sign him up at this point in time. His coordination has not always been the best and before his last surgery last October he fell an awful lot. We just couldn't see him on the field falling all over the place.
As he gets older, he will dictate the activities he wants to do....I know there will be times when we have to let him give it a try and see what happens.
