I said I wasn't just a bit disappointed about our loss to the other equally deserving ( but not our) charity. We have "big" dreams for our little non profit organization. When I first started the newsletter back up after years of "nothing", the cost petrified me! I knew just how much money (or lack there of) we had at the time. Our society was not all that active, membership had fallen off and it costs money for a website, literature for new families, mailbox, bank fees etc etc etc. Money that comes from fundraising and membership fees, which at the time was slim. We have had a shift and things are looking up there is no doubt. We have dedicated funds set aside for Dwarfism Awareness which we have been slowly using for awareness and education. The Rhys Lewis Athletics Legacy Fund is doing really well (funds targeted for LP's in the pursuit of Athletics) and so is the Muriel Reid Scholarship Fund ( Post Secondary scholarships for LPBC members) but more money in our general fund would be amazing. When we fund a social event there is always the worry about funds, what will we have to ask the members to provide? What can LPBC afford? Winning the Benefit Brew would have taken some of that worry away...oh well. We will continue to more forward and to provide the best for all of our members and their families.
