The angels danced the day you were born

Six years ago today we welcomed our baby boy into our lives. What an amazing journey it has been. Happy Birthday son! I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Leading up to his birth was so very traumatic for us and for everyone around us. To be told that your baby was not expected to live is devastating. To hear that he has multiple broken bones, that he must be in pain and to feel so helpless. I remember sitting in Connor's room in the rocking chair, holding my belly and wishing I could just keep him safe inside. There were so many people in the operating room (18). All those people focused and ready. The top perinatologist and neonatologist in the Province. All I hoped for was to hear him cry. The sound was music to my ears. He screamed and kicked, not something a baby with multiple fractures would do. I have a very raw photo of my first glimpse of Connor as I was still on the operating table. Just Some Sentences

Connor and I will be attending the ALPA conference in Calgary! He is super excited and so am I. I'm looking forward to the social aspect and letting him "party like a rock star" as his Dad says. The house has four groups going through it today and three set up so far for the open house on Sunday. This morning was a mad scramble to put away any evidence that there are three kids living there, but we did it. There are a few Skylanders hanging out by the TV /Wii but they look like they belong. We went in search of our own "new to us" house this past weekend and boy what an experience. We looked at some show homes in a new development that were supper nice and had that "new" house smell. We looked at some larger homes with the basement split into 10 small rooms. Yikes. This weekend we will head out to cloverdale to look at some houses out there. The Ministers Cat is a...

CRAZY cat. I'm reading my favorite book series by Diana Gabaldon(instead of marking, cleaning, laundry, etc etc). It is an amazing series and love that I got to have my books autographed by the Author at Chapters a few years back. It is like meeting a Hollywood star! I also had Jean Aurel autograph a book for my mom and Jack Whyte a book for a friend. I've ready the Outlander series almost 10 times over the years. I remember my friend Naomi bought me the first book for my birthday back when I was in University. Every time a new book comes out I re-read the entire series to make sure I'm ready for the next installment. I'm on the fourth now ( Drums of Autumn) and I've told myself that I can only read it when I get caught up the stacks and stacks of marking...oops I forgot my marking at work. I guess a chapter or two can't hurt!
