This past weekend my folks came to town...it was hot. Reallly Hot! We worked hard to unpack and organize but OMG is there a lot of stuff. I'm glad that everything that I have to put away is here. All in one place. I do believe that all the kitchen boxes are almost done. There might be a meat grinder, a meat slicer and a vacuum seal machine somewhere in the mountain of stuff still left. My martini glasses and margarita glasses are all out and ready to go. My dad worked on my cookie sheet cabinet ( he sawed out a shelf in a tiny cabinet next to the fridge so that I could put my cookie sheets in sideways). The cookie scoops are out and ready to go. The kitchen aid has a place of honor on the counter. I bought butter and thought all was good to make my first batch of cookies until I realized that I didn't have any flour.
We set up the kiddie pool and Grandma joined the two youngest in taking a dip. I took my dad to the local farmers market on HWY 10 and 168th. He loves to get produce in the city as it is so much cheaper here. A's room looks great with my grandmothers old furniture and Connor got a new bed spread that looks amazing. Both rooms look so grown up. AW still has princesses so it makes me feel a bit better.
Once both of the younger two were in bed tonight we played "Ticket to Ride" with A. It's a board game that we love. We've got a game closet that we have started downstairs. It looks great and I will be excited to add to it over the years. Family game night will continue here at this new house. John is going to start organizing the downstairs ( getting the WII set up and ready to play). Moving toys around and making it a safe place for the kids to venture down to. We'll have the bar fridge and microwave set up down there for popcorn. It will be fabulous!
My folks are bringing down their old King Bed to put in "their" room another time and will purchase a new one in PR for them. They can't wait to leave a few things and make it their own. It helps that the bathroom is on the same floor. C asked why they would want to sleep in the basement (it's far for him to go). They lucked out because the temperature was quite nice down there. My folks liked the house ( My Mom's favourite place was the garden on the outside and privacy)...AND IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW ALREADY CAN I SAY I REALLY LOVE MY KITCHEN!
