Let's Get this Started

To Start the Month off I thought I would share Connor's Story but remembered that I have already done that (here)....so instead I thought I would share our Story of our journey to LPBC.  When Connor was 4 months old, our friends the Gramm's hooked us up with the Kisser's (here) and through them we attended out first LPBC AGM when Connor was 6 months old.  LPBC took a bit of a down turn after that and for a few years there was not much available for families.  No social gathers, no newsletters...it was like it was gone.  We were to busy in our day to day lives to get involved or to even question what happened.  It wasn't until Connor was 2.5 years that there was an emergency AGM called to decide what to do with the society.  I can remember that AGM like it was yesterday.  I went because I knew I wanted to be involved.  I wanted Connor to have a resource...friends...family to call his own.  It was a pretty emotional AGM to say the least ( too long a story to share on here) but in the end it was decided that the society should stay a non-profit organization with a website and a postal box...for families to find us.  I can't even remember if that was when Kim stood up to be president?  Maybe.  I left that meeting emotionally drained and told my hubby I wouldn't be returning to another one of THOSE meetings.  John went to the meeting the following year and we planned a social gathering at our house that Spring (2008)...from there things started to happen again.  But it wasn't until we started to publish the newsletter again that things really picked up. In 2010 we hosted a holiday Gathering at our old house and we were amazed when over 40 people attended.  It was so exciting.  Last year (2011) we had our first annual Birthday Bash in the park and had over 50 people attend and the second annual holiday gathering even more so.  This year was the second annual Birthday bash and we had over 65 people attend and five new families.  The growing numbers and support have been absolutely amazing.  We are a growing family and I can't wait to see what the future holds...check out our website (http://www.littlepeopleofbc.org/)
