A new reader in the house

Mr. C is reading an old classic...Dick and Jane.  The oldest started reading those books and there was no stopping her.  Mr. C is now reading two little stories a night and is SO proud of himself.  Every word he sees he tries to sound it out.  Read the words.  It's great.  Leaps and bounds in just a few months.  Signs that we drive by, words on the TV, lots of new things he's trying to discover.  Tonight he was memorizing lines for the Remembrance Day Assembly( Grade 1...really?).  Seems he will be in front of the microphone.  I wish I could be there to watch.  I had forgotten how fast they take in information during grade 1.  WOW.
We had a trip to the Pediatrician on Thursday last week.  1.5 hours later ( our Ped ROCKS).  It looks like we will be taking a trip(s) back to a few Dr.s at Children's.  Mr. C had tubes put in his ears a couple of years ago ( honestly I can't remember the date...bad mommy) and they have fallen out.  We want to have his hearing tested to see if he can't hear me or is just choosing to ignore his mama.  He also needs to see his neurosurgeon again as he is complaining his legs don't work when he has been sitting for an extended period of time.  Possible lower compression?  Who knows.  I'm trying to stay chill about the whole thing.  The last sleep study was done last year about this time and although it shows some improvement in his obstructed apnea it is still a concern and something we will have to monitor.  Intervention in the way of a CPAP or BIPAP might come in down the road.  He can't have anymore surgical intervention to fix it.  He still has one BIG tonsil in his tiny mouth.  He is also in line to see an orthodontist because of the crowding in his mouth.  Poor guy can't catch a break.  I love our Pediatrician.  He rocks my world and will work with me to develop a plan for Mr. C's case management.  He puts my fears at ease and takes my concerns and worries seriously.  He's a great generalist.
My trip home tonight didn't quite go as planned...Thanks so much to my good friend who called to give me a heads up about the traffic disaster on the 99.  It still took FOREVER.  The kids are tucked in and it's time for this tired mama to hit the hay...
