An old friend

Have you ever had a friend that you’ve lost touch with for no reason other then time and space?  A friend who used to be so close to you, someone you shared everything with?  Now they are a name of someone you use to know.  You think about them often, wonder how they are doing and what they are doing.  Has life changed them over the years?  Or are they still the same?  Do you have other friends who will ask about him/her and if you have heard anything over the years.
I have one such friend.  She’s not on facebook( well she is but not really active on there) but I can find her if I google her name.  I think about her often, still remember her birthday and her anniversary.  I remember the beautiful blue eyes of her oldest child but never got the chance to meet her other two children.  I’ve seen them in a few holiday cards over the years.  A couple of years ago our Christmas card was returned in the mail.  It said “Address Unknown”.  I was a bit sad and it seemed like our last connection was gone.  I’ll be the first to admit that I maybe let the friendship go.  We shared some pretty amazing memories and stories.  I often smile when I remember some of our road trips (Skiing in Whistler, the many times I drove her to the airport to fly back home, etc) and all crazy chats and nights out on the town (in my younger years).  As the holidays approach I am finding myself thinking of her more often.  I hope she is well, happy and enjoying the holidays surrounded by loved ones.
