Today I went to vist a very pregnant(ready to gove birth any time now) friend downtown. I didn't have time to bake so I stopped by one of my favourite bakeries called Applewood Bakery. I bought 6 lovely scones and an assortment of squares and slices to take with me. What a treat. Nothing says comfort food like a fresh scone with clotted cream and jam! My great grandmother use to make them and wrap them in a tea towel. We would have them for afternoon tea. Oh how I loved the time spent sipping tea with my family. My great grandmother lived until she was 108 and her baking lives on in her daughter (my grandmother) and me.
